The Nerve That Makes You Remember: Physical Pain, Emotional Pain, and Why They Matter

There are three kinds of pain. The first is physical pain, which alerts you that damage has been done to your body. The second is phantom pain, which replicates the feeling of physical pain in the mind without receiving signals from the body. The third is emotional pain, which is a distinct sensation, more overwhelming and unbearable than either of the other two.
